Appointments are mandatory for all routine consular services and must be scheduled online. Due to extremely high demand for visas, applicants should book their appointments far in advance. A separate system is in place for American Citizen Services.

The embassy is located in a high-traffic, central location near Gwanghwamun Plaza. Security is extremely tight, and visitors are subject to rigorous screening. No electronic devices, including laptops and large cameras, are permitted. Visitors are advised to use Seoul's excellent public transportation system.
